Bikers vs. Bulls

Featured event during the Saturday Rodeo held during Bike Rally weekend at the Grants Rodeo Arena was the Bikers vs. Bulls. Iron Cowboys traded in their leather seats for just a few seconds on those big woolly bullys. Out of the six brave novice bull rider/ bikers, Israel Vigil earned the top prize of Belt Buckle and $200. by staying on his Brahma Bull for 4 seconds. However, he sustained a broken collar bone when he landed on his shoulder and was unable to stay to receive his trophy buckle. Friend, Bubba James, accepted it on his behalf.

Rodeo clown bullfighter, Charlie Greene, was on hand to help keep the riders safe by distracting the bulls. Bikers were given tips from the rodeo pros to help them make their rides. The Bikers vs. Bulls was so successful that event organizers plan to make it an annual event and offer a bull-riding class to anyone interested in improving their skills. Bulls used in the event are the same ones used for novice bull riders and schools. More entrants and more prize money are expected next year.
